Iran, Turkmenistan stress broadening of cultural cooperation

Tehran, IRNA – Cultural Attaché of the Islamic Republic of Iran Navid Rasouli and the head of Magtumguly Institute in Turkmenistan Davud Orazsahedov in a meeting emphasized the expansion of cultural cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting took place in Magtumguly Institute of Language, Literature and National Manuscripts, affiliated to the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan on Thursday and the two sides discussed potential cooperation opportunities.

Rasouli said that the fact that thousands of Arabic, Farsi and Turkic manuscripts exist in Magtumguly Institute bespeaks historical and cultural ties between Iran and Turkmenistan.

He also said that exploring, maintaining, restoring and publishing these valuable documents would serve both countries’ knowledge from each other and help expand cultural cooperation in-between.

Iran’s Cultural Attaché proposed Magtumguly Institute to sign an agreement with National Library of Iran or the organization of Libraries, Museums and Documents Center of Astan Qods Razavi to work on manuscripts.

Elsewhere in the meeting, Orazsahedov said that Magtumguly Institute was ready to work with Iran’s Cultural Attaché Office in Turkmenistan on organizing scientific and cultural conferences, including commemoration of the millennium of the renowned Muslim mystic Abu Saeed Abul-Kheyr.
